Three Exercises to Improve Your Balance

These simple, but effective, exercises are suggested by one of our Certified Personal Trainers, Vincent Tran. He recommends repeating these exercises 2 to 3 times per day to maintain or improve your balance. For an added challenge you can try these exercises with your eyes closed.

1. Single Leg Balance
(15-30 seconds)

a. Hold foot 3 inches off of the ground in front of your body
b. Hold foot 3 inches off of the ground behind your body
c. Lift your knee up in front of your body2. Heel to Toe Straight Line Walk
(10-15 steps)

a. Walking forwards
b. Walking Backwards

3. Single Leg Balance on Unstable Surface
(15-30 seconds)
A folded towel/blanket or pillow works well
a. Hold foot 3 inches off of the ground in front of your body
b. Hold foot 3 inches off of the ground behind your body
c. Lift your knee up in front of your body

 *When performing these exercises be aware of your surroundings and make sure that you have something to grab onto if you lose your balance.*
